AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) defines massage as “a manual soft tissue manipulation that includes holding, causing movement, and/or applying pressure to the body.” Massage therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. (AMTA) Massage therapy improves functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness. Massage involves holding, causing movement of soft tissue, and/or applying pressure to the body.

A Himalayan salt stone massage consists of the therapist placing several hot stones along the spine and back or holding the stones in their hands in order to manipulate problematic areas of the back. A combination of placing the stones and manual manipulation of the stones is also quite common.

We can use our pregnancy pillow also our electric massage table adjusts to enjoy the comfort of a therapeutic massage.

Benefits and hydration

Because of the relaxing and balancing nature of the Himalayan salt stone massage, it is believed to help with common aches and pains, poor circulation, arthritis pain, stress, anxiety, tension, depression, and even insomnia.

One of the main precautions to take before a Himalayan hot stone massage session is to make sure the body is properly hydrated. If the body is dehydrated during this massage, burns can be a severe repercussion.

To prevent burns, be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after the Himalayan salt stone massage treatment. It is also a good idea to apply a skin moisturizer twice a day for the week leading up to the massage to make sure the skin is not dry, as dry skin is more likely to be burned by the hot stones.

What are the benefits of getting regular massages?

Massages don’t just feel good, they do good, benefiting almost every part of the body. The main benefits of massage are improved circulation and movement.

How regularly should I get a massage?

A weekly massage may seem overindulgent, but it may be beneficial to your health. If you have a specific condition that requires attention, a weekly treatment is definitely the way to go.

For general health and well-being, a monthly massage is recommended to keep the body and mind in top shape. Just like exercise, massages do more for you the more regularly you keep up with them.

How regularly should I get a massage?

Massages are great stress relievers and fatigue fighters through their release of mood-boosting endorphins. The intense, prolonged physical contact of massage boosts levels of serotonin, the body’s happy hormone. Serotonin is also key to the body producing melatonin, the substance that moderates the sleep stage of our circadian cycle.

When you’re sleeping well, your nervous system is less likely to be stressed and irritable, and — as long as there’s no underlying condition — those headaches should also disappear.
